Top of Home, Top of Mind
Mar 26, 2015Spring has finally sprung and you’ve likely started making that list—in your head, at least—of everything you need to do to the outside of your home now that temperatures are warming up. If you haven’t, the folks over at HomeAdvisor have put together this handy list of projects that will help boost your home’s curb appeal this spring. We’re especially fond of #3 on that list, “Repair Your Roofing & Gutters.” HomeAdvisor shares:
Missing shingles and sagging gutters do more than make your home look shoddy; they can cause seriously spendy problems. Water takes the path of least resistance and exploits any crack, gap or hole it can find. Left unrepaired, the damage can quickly make its way down to your sub roofing, or, in the case of damaged gutters, down to your foundation. If you notice that your gutters are having trouble moving water away from your foundation, or if it’s been a while since you’ve had your roof inspected, it’s a good idea to have a roofing pro stop by for an inspection.
We couldn’t agree more. In fact, we talked (at length) about potential roof damage caused by winter weather earlier this month in. Is It Spring Yet? So why are we talking about roofs again so soon? It’s simple. When it comes to protecting your roof, we can overstate the importance of regular inspections and maintenance. Amy Matthews, host of DIY Network’s Sweat Equity and Bathroom Renovations, and HGTV’s Renovation Raiders, has some more great tips to add.
Like the old saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!
